Science Club Experiment Plan
We will compare bean plants grown under blue, red, and white light. Each group will receive the same amount of water and will be placed the same distance from its lamp.
The club has twelve young plants, so each light group will contain four plants. We will measure height every two days for two weeks. The plants will not be moved between groups.
Email from Ms. Reed
Please record the room temperature each day. If the lamps make one area warmer, temperature could affect the results. Also, use the same ruler and measure from the soil to the highest leaf.
Club note
We first planned to use sunlight, but clouds and the changing position of the sun would make it difficult to keep the light conditions equal. Lamps will give us a more controlled comparison.
Why will the club use lamps instead of sunlight?
What should the students do if one lamp makes its area warmer?
How often will the students measure the plants' height?
